Research at the Evansdale Greenhouse reflects a wide array of areas of inquiry related to plant propagation and health.
These include:
- Flower senescence, or the biology of the flower as it ages after reaching maturity
- Postharvest physiology
- Horicultural sustainability
- Season extension
- Drought and heat stress
- Biotechnology
- Aquaponics, a sustainable food production system that combines traditional aquaculture with hydroponics, cultivating plants in water.
Given the ample space for propagation and the flexible nature of our grow rooms, the Evansdale Greenhouse provides valuable research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as partners from a wide variety of academic disciplines offered by West Virginia University.
